Photo Time...A Fall 2006 Glance

Almaty & Premoi Put, Kazakhstan
September 2006.

We loved being back in Almaty, as the Kazakhs are the people to whom we are most drawn worldwide.

What do you do when long-time friends Anarbek and Gulbanu “kill the animal” and honor you with a sheep’s head?

You eat: Kazakh style both in seating, on pads sitting on the floor with a slightly raised table on the front porch of their simple home – AND in time – four hours sitting for a feast, dessert, tea, and  conversation.

Here is Anarbek with his family [pictured from left]: Max, Aktota, wife Gulbanu, Daout, & Chengiskhan.

There is no greater honor than such a meal of love and hospitality. !

Did I mention that the honored guest pulls out each eye and offers it to the host and hostess with a blessing, and they in turn offer you the brains for you to eat?

Steven is pictured as he "enjoys my brain""!!

Arua, Uganda – late September 2006

Peter Drypolcher: “Arua, Uganda is in a very strategic position in Africa – walk fifteen minutes west and you are in the Congo. Drive 30 miles north – you’re in Sudan. Due east is the domain of the Lord’s Resistance Army which has been terrorizing Uganda for years. This YWAM base is strategic for reaching unreached people in three countries!”

Peter, a ten year African veteran, was the reason I came to Arua to help train leaders at this YWAM training base.

I [Paul] know of no other more strategically located base in the world for reaching multiple cultures.

Mario, with daughter Deborah, one whom we trained, is a translator working on the alphabet for his tribe’s Baka language as of yet only spoken.

His goal: scriptures in Baka!

Fatima and Obed, arabic-speaking Sudanese also from the Daka tribe, believe that God has called them to plant a church right next to their homeland, the troubled Darfur region.

Amazing believers....

Base leader Sam Akuba, with is his wife Agnes, is a Pentecostal pastor who is committed to reaching out in all three directions from this YWAM base.

At Sam’s request and with Peter’s support, I will go back again next fall to train.

In the meantime, in Lusaka, Zambia...

The girls in Lusaka are acting out!! Julie, Katie (Peter & Debi’s daughter), Pam, Keke, and Debi (Peter’s wife). Peter and Debi are long-time friends who are originally from Albuquerque.

Equipping and Releasing Equipping-Releasers in North America...one shot!

Grip/Birkman Blueprint National Trainer Hal Burke (3rd from left) is pictured with new coaches that he and new trainer Mike Johnson (at left) qualified. Barbara, Lois, Rebecca, Ruth, Geronimo, and Reb came on board in Houston in early October.

Hal will be carrying more of a major role in coaches training from this point forward, a tremendous blessing. In two years we have grown from one trainer, yours truly, to over 40 truly active coaches and trainers who have invested in over 1500 Christian leaders in at least six countries!

Stephen at Hillsdale College, MI

Stephen is pictured (far right) with the Hillsdale College Debate Team.

His partner, Sarah Howard, is directly in front of him. Both the team and the pair of Sarah and Stephen are having a strong year so far.

Three of Stephen’s close friends early in his time at Hilllsdale are James, Will, and Cara.
