House Churches in Asia – it’s a small [group] world
“Wie Shi is a leader in the home church movement in Asia, and while studying at Trinity Southwest University in Albuquerque, she took a class called, "Building Ministry Teams,” taught by Bruce Lininger and based upon the books and materials written by Dr. Paul Ford. Her plans are to implement the Chinese translation of Your Leadership Grip tools in her local Chinese congregation in Albuquerque, and then utilize the gift identification, team style, and leadership evaluation tools in Asia this fall of 2004. Pray for Wie as she stewards her gifts to equip and release the people entrusted to her for God's Kingdom growth.” - Bruce
From Julie…
But now, this is what the Lord says –
He who created you, O Jacob,
He who formed you, O Israel.
Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name;
you are Mine.
When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
when you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.
For I am the Lord your God,
The Holy One of Israel your Savior.
Israel 43:1-3
Thanks so much for those of you who have prayed so diligently for me and for our family these past nine months. The combination of guidance regarding medications that we received from the Amen Clinic in May and the specific prayer just before determining to travel to Thailand and Singapore June 17th broke the cloud of depression that has dogged me for so long. We rejoice in having overseers in our church come the day before we left to lay hands and pray for me. Even the intercessors in Thailand for the Southern Baptist missionary conference were well aware, without our telling them in fact, of the spiritual battle going on in the heavenlies during the 48 hours before we left. Praise God for their – and many of you – battling in prayer for us!
It is great to be home again, getting to things I have let go since last fall, making plans, seeing friends, and, most of all, just enjoying living once again. I praise God for His faithfulness and for Paul, Stephen, and dear friends standing by me during this most difficult season.
Many prayed that we would have fun in Thailand and Singapore...
When this most recent trip to SE Asia was planned, we had intended it to include five days of…something we have done on only four of Paul’s 33 trips over ten plus years…planned, extended FUN! And, because of the battleground of the last nine months in our lives, this became even more of a need for our family. In these last nine months, we had lost the ability to play together. Thus we asked our email prayer list of folk to pray that we would indeed be able to have fun together, both during the week I was training 70 missionaries in northern Thailand AND especially in Singapore, where, following a day of meetings, the rest was to be vacation time. Well now, you be the judge as to whether God answered our prayers!
It's All About Relationships...

Robert and Diana Clark were the people through whom God opened the door for Paul to coach leaders in Thailand.
They had been trained in the home office four years ago then invited Paul to train leaders in the Philippines last spring and now to Thailand.
Through them a door may be opening to impact the entire SE Asia Region of the Southern Baptist missions!
Church Planter Joseph Jabemany
Paul had promised Joseph in the Spring of 2003 that Paul would bring his family to meet him.
He feed us wonderful Indian curry as you can see by the smile on Stephen's face!
Joseph also tells us that eight more churches have been planted in Malaysia!
Praise God!
